    8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Prerequisite

Completion of Module 3, proficiency in bone grafting and augmentation, and/or prior experience with implants is required.

Placement of dental implants into extraction sites provides opportunities to maintain hard and soft tissue contours while providing a comfortable, convenient, and time saving service to the patient. Learn the protocols for immediate placement with immediate no load, early light load, and stabilized load that will enable you to provide this essential service to your patients.

Course Objective

To gain an understanding of the surgical skills required for successful atraumatic extraction of a hopeless tooth followed by the immediate placement of a dental implant(s) with temporization to replace tooth form in an appropriate fashion.

Course Description

This is a three day hands-on course for student-doctor and TEAM. It includes performing atraumatic extractions utilizing various instrumentations and, when indicated, placing implants into the sites where teeth were extracted. The participating doctor is strongly encouraged to bring his/her own patient(s). Not only will ideal surgical outcomes be explored, but also how to successfully handle less than ideal environments that may be encountered. Attendees will gain a better understanding of his/her surgical and prosthetic abilities thereby maximizing case selection as it relates to the participant’s skill level.

Mode of Instruction

Didactic instruction on day 1 is followed by 2 days of “hands-on” surgical training. The student-doctor will provide his/her own patient. This allows the attendee to follow the patient through completion of the restoration. Course participants are required to submit the patient records (as outlined in the AIM Records Protocol) 30 days prior to the course for evaluation, treatment plan verification and a surgical fee estimate. Participation in live surgeries suggests clinical attire (scrubs) for the second and third day. Bringing Loupes and accompanying illumination is recommended.
